If you want to learn more about Turks and Caicos before (or after) visiting, there are a bunch of interesting blogs to help you out. Below is our list of some of the best Turks and Caicos blogs around. Of course we are really fond of our own Turks and Caicos blog, but there are many others offering up different perspectives.
Jerk Chicken is a Caribbean favorite and is easy to find on the island of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. Many places serve up this island meal that gets its name from the famous Jamaican jerk seasoning. Jerk Chicken is traditionally made by rubbing in a spicy dry seasoning and then marinated in the jerk sauce to give both a spicy and somewhat sweet kick to the flavoring.
If you are looking to get out on the water or are just looking for a little fun and adventure while on Turks and Caicos, you cannot beat the Island Vibes Tours experience. Island Vibes has both ½ day snorkel tours and full-day barbeque adventures. Both excursions are some of the most fun you will have on the island.
Depending on where you stay and what you want to do, you may need to rent a car while enjoying your vacation on Turks and Caicos. Taking taxis to all of your destinations can get expensive as well. There are two great car rental companies located right in Grace Bay and within walking distance from many of the resorts: Grace Bay Car Rental (Thrifty) and Avis Car Rental. We will talk a bit about each below.
If you plan on eating in occasionally, you may want to stay in a resort that is located near the grocery store. The restaurants and cabs tend to be a bit on the expensive side so making use of the kitchen in your room (if you have one) is a good idea.
A common question we get is, “Where is the best place for breakfast in Turks and Caicos?”
Many of the resorts in Turks and Caicos have excellent complimentary breakfasts with your stay. If your resort does not or you just want to get out and experience even more of the wonderful dining on Providenciales, breakfast is a good meal to dine out.
First, let’s be clear that Turks and Caicos is not a huge shopping destination. Turks and Caicos is a beach destination. There are a number of shops to visit and buy gifts, souvenirs, and local items at, but there is not a large shopping area like you might find on some of the other Caribbean islands (like St. Martin).
JoJo the Dolphin is one of the most famous dolphins in the world. JoJo swims the waters around Turks and Caicos saying hello to all island locals and tourists alike. There is no doubt JoJo is real and a joy to see during any visit to Turks and Caicos.
