First, let’s be clear that Turks and Caicos is not a huge shopping destination. Turks and Caicos is a beach destination. There are a number of shops to visit and buy gifts, souvenirs, and local items at, but there is not a large shopping area like you might find on some of the other Caribbean islands (like St. Martin).
If you are looking for shopping on Providenciales, you can just head out along Grace Bay Road to the Saltmills Plaza or Regent Village which are located right across the street from each other. You can walk to this area from several of the resorts including The Sands, Seven Stars Resort, and The Regent Grand. This area is just a short cab ride from most other area resorts. Or if you rent a car one day while on the island, it is just a short drive and there is plenty of parking.
In this area, you will find less than twenty shops intermingled with some of the best restaurants on the island. If you are looking for souvenirs from your visit, this is definitely the place to go. You can also find locally made goods including bracelets, necklaces, and straw hats in the shops. You can schedule fishing trips, diving trips, snorkeling trips, and boat rides at several of the shops.
Here are a few of the shops in Saltmills and Regent Village:
- Anna’s Art Gallery
- Blue Surf Shop
- Caicos Adventures
- L’Oasis Boutique
- Treasure S & S Gifts
Walking around Saltmills and Regent Village is a great way to spend a morning or afternoon on the island. You can shop for that perfect item that you will you remember your vacation for years to come. And while you are in the area you can stop in for lunch, dinner, or tropical drink at places like Le Bouchon, The Vix, Bella Luna, and Thai Orchid.
This is a wonderful area that many shoppers will enjoy. Have fun!
